EMERGENCY NUMBERS AND OTHER IMPORTANT PHONE NUMBERS IN SPAIN

The numbers listed below are general and should work from anywhere in Spain. Most provinces or big cities have additional numbers that you can use to call their local police, ambulance services, etc.

112    EMERGENCY: POLICE, FIRE, AMBULANCE

If at all possible, find a Spanish speaker to make the call for you, since they may not have an English speaker available. (And even if they do, their level of English may not be that good.)

The 112 number works throughout Spain. If your friends or family outside of Spain need to reach the emergency services in Spain, they can dial the international access code + 34 + 112.

Some useful phrases, in case there are no Spanish speakers around:

¡Necesito una ambulancia! = I need an ambulance!

¡Me han robado! = I’ve been robbed!

¡Me han atracado! = I’ve been attacked!

¡Mi piso está ardiendo! = My apartment is on fire!

Vivo en… = I live at…

Estoy en la calle X, número X…. = I’m on X street, number X…

091 or 092   NON- EMERGENCY: POLICE (POLICÍA)

If you need to contact the Spanish police about a crime or problem that does not pose an immediate threat (e.g., the neighbors are making too much noise at 3 a.m.), call the non-emergency number.

To report a crime or misdemeanor, use one of the following phrases:

Quiero hacer una denuncia. = I’d like to make a report.

Quiero denunciar un crimen. = I’d like to report a crime.

Quiero denunciar un delito. = I’d like to report a misdemeanor.

080   FIREFIGHTERS (BOMBEROS)

If you need to contact the fire department in Spain about a non-emergency, use the 080 number or the 112 number.

061   AMBULANCE (AMBULANCIA)

If you need an ambulance in Spain, you can use the 061 number or the 112 number.

EMERGENCY CONSULAR SERVICES

You may obtain emergency consular services from your home country through its main embassy in Spain. (Non-emergency consular services can usually be obtained at any embassy or consulate in Spain.) Your embassy may be able to provide you with financial assistance or help you obtain money from home, and they may also assist you in finding English-speaking doctors or arranging for emergency transport back to your home country (among other things).
